After snacks, I divided up the youth group into teams 7-10 people on each team. Each team had either a camera or phone that could take video.I notified them ahead of time and asked them to bring it with their memory cleared and charged. There was at least one adult or young adult with each team. I told them that they had 30 minutes (more like 45 minutes it took) to plan and record a video about the gospel. It could be about the Bible, it could be about something to do with the church, it could be about Christians and people. Anything. If you have more time you can allow your students to leave and go around town to record their video (kind of like a Scavenger Hunt)As soon as I said “go” they went running to different parts of the church to plan their video. We have a kid’s church prop room and they could use any items that they wanted as long as the items were put back.
Tip: Make sure that the people who bring their phones to record can email or bring their charger chord to load the video to a computer. Also, make sure your computer can read sim cards.
On Friday night of our youth service, we showed all of the videos on the big screen in the auditorium for our icebreaker! Who knew that President Obama received the Holy Ghost during our youth week? Oh and so did Toy Story Woody too. It was a lot of fun!!!!
