Lab Session Descriptions
Lab Sessions # 1
Aaron Soto | Real Talk: Serious Relationships
When is it appropriate for a Hyphen apostolic to get into a serious dating relationship, and what should that relationship look like? Pastor Aaron Soto will address the need to prepare our Hyphen community for serious relationships.
Garrett and Allison Robertson | Ministering to Trauma
Do you feel unprepared for dealing with students who have experienced trauma in their lives? Building a thriving student ministry means students with traumatic experiences will walk through your door. This session will equip you to effectively recognize and help these students and deal with the outcomes of their experiences.
Jonathan McDonald | Overcoming Self-Doubt
At some time or other, everyone must face self-doubt in their ministry experience. In this session with Pastor Jonathan McDonald, you will be taught practical and straightforward methods for defeating the doubt factor and unlocking the fullness of your youth ministry calling.
Lab Sessions # 2
Derek Borders | I said, “Yes!” Now, what do I do?
We’ve all experienced that moment of hesitation when the pastor asks us to step into a youth ministry role that we had never considered before. How can we be effective in youth ministry even though we might not have had that “burning bush” moment with God? In this session, learn what actual service is and learn to embrace where God has placed you in this season.
Daniel Bernard | Vision Casting in Youth Ministry
How do you cast a vision for your youth ministry that aligns with your church vision, is attainable, and relevant to students? In this session, join Daniel Bernard as he talks about vision casting principles that led to an increase of student volunteers, higher consistent attendance, the doubling of their MTM offering, and more students being born again.
Travis Worthington | What Hyphens Need to Hear
Hyphens are the church of today that, when effectively mobilized and empowered, can be catalysts for growth and revival! This session features principles and methods for unlocking the potential of Hyphens in the local church. National Hyphen Director, Travis Worthington, will share strategies to empower, conversations to mobilize, and events to engage your Hyphen Young Adults.
Lab Sessions # 3
Aaron Soto | Delayed Adulthood & The Church
Delayed adulthood is a trending topic of concern in the 21st Century. Pastor Aaron Soto will address how local churches may unintentionally contribute to this problem. Learn how to create on-ramps to apostolic adulthood.
Daniel Bernard | So…what do I preach/teach anyway?
Bringing something fresh and relevant week after week is daunting even for the most experienced youth worker. In this session, Daniel Bernard will talk about planning out your content for the year, building a sustainable speaking routine, and developing other speakers along the way.
Tyler Sullivan | Learning to Rely on God
Transitional times can cause leaders to question a lot of things: Themselves. Others. God. What do you do when you are unsure where God is leading? If you find yourself in a transitional season, this session will provide helpful context, tools, and insight from Evangelist and veteran youth worker Tyler Sullivan.
